5 Things Your Mover Wants You to Know About Moving Day

by Oct 10, 2017Tips0 comments

Imagine if other people knew exactly what to do to make your regular job more efficient on a daily basis. You could probably be much more productive and work would go much more smoothly. Now think about local moving services you hire for moving to a new home. If you know what to do in preparation for moving day, you can make their jobs much easier, which will mean a smoother and more efficient move overall. Here are five things you can do to help your packers and movers.

Label Boxes Clearly

You may want certain boxes to be placed in a certain room at your new home. If so, label them clearly so you won’t have to be directing your movers when you get there. Even more importantly, label a box clearly if it includes fragile items, so your packers and movers know to handle it with more care than they normally would.

Empty Out Desk Drawers

Nothing is more frustrating for relocation services than moving a desk with items in the drawers. Not only do these items make the desk heavier, it can also throw it off balance. Movers constantly have to worry about the drawers sliding open and all of your items falling out. Do them a favor and remove the items before you move.

Make The Boxes Manageable To Move

It may be your goal to put your things in as few boxes as possible, but that’s not necessarily what packers and movers want. Consider the size and weight of each box as you’re packing them up. Try to spread out the heavy items to multiple boxes to prevent the risk of the box breaking due to the excessive weight.

Be Ready When Movers Arrive

A pet peeve of any local moving services is when they arrive to find out you still have a lot of packing to do. Unless, of course, you’ve paid them to do all the packing for you. Otherwise, you’ll simply be wasting both your time and theirs, which can lead to frustration on both sides.

Let The Movers Do Their Jobs

Most importantly, you have to let the packers and movers do their jobs. They are trained professionals in moving large items, small items and everything in between. While you may think you have a better idea or want to intervene and help, you have to take a step back and trust their experience to get the job done.
